Emily & James
The first time James saw Emily, she was standing beneath the soft glow of an autumn sunset, holding a book close to her heart. The wind gently moved her hair, and for a moment, the whole world seemed to stand still.
James smiled.
Emily looked up.
Their eyes met.
Neither of them knew that this simple moment would become the beginning of a love story they would remember forever.
Days passed, and their friendship grew. They shared long conversations, quiet walks, endless laughter, and dreams about the future. Every evening ended with the same words.
"Good night... See you tomorrow."
Tomorrow always came.
Until one day...
James received a job offer in another state.
The night before he left, they sat on a park bench under thousands of stars.
Emily tried to smile.
James tried to be strong.
But silence spoke louder than words.
Finally, Emily whispered,
"Will distance change us?"
James gently held her hand.
"Distance can separate two cities... but never two hearts that truly love each other."
Months turned into years.
Every morning began with a message.
Every night ended with a phone call.
Birthdays were celebrated through video calls.
Anniversaries were marked by letters and memories.
Sometimes Emily cried because she missed him.
Sometimes James secretly wiped away tears after ending a call.
Yet neither of them gave up.
People often asked Emily,
"Why wait so long?"
She would smile and answer,
"Because some people are worth waiting for."
One snowy December evening, James returned without telling her.
Emily was walking through the same park where they had promised never to let go.
Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Emily..."
She turned around.
There he was.
For a second, she couldn't move.
Then she ran into his arms.
Neither of them spoke.
Neither of them needed to.
Their tears said everything words never could.
After a long silence, James laughed softly.
"You know... you still cry too easily."
Emily wiped her eyes and laughed through her tears.
"And you still make me cry for all the right reasons."
A few moments later, James knelt on one knee.
He took out a small ring.
"Emily... from the day we first met, my heart chose you. It still chooses you today, and it will choose you every day for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"
Emily covered her face as tears rolled down her cheeks.
She nodded again and again.
"Yes... A thousand times, yes."
Snow continued to fall around them.
Strangers nearby began to clap.
Some smiled.
Some quietly wiped away tears.
Years later, when people asked them the secret of their happy marriage, James always gave the same answer.
"Love isn't about finding someone perfect."
Emily would finish his sentence with a smile.
"It's about choosing the same person, every single day—even when life isn't perfect."
And every time they looked at each other, they remembered that beautiful autumn evening when two strangers met by chance...
...and became each other's forever. ❤️
